Case Study

AURA INVALIDES

Moment Factory used the magic of modern technology to enhance the experience at one of France’s most famous national institutions.

In September 2023, Moment Factory unveiled AURA Invalides, an immersive experience in one of Paris's most iconic monuments, the national cathedral of the French military known as the Dôme des Invalides, which includes the tomb of Napoleon. With light, orchestral music, and video mapping, the experience unfolds in three movements.

In addition to building many scenes from scratch in Notch, the Moment Factory team used Notch's particle systems and lighting capabilities to enhance pre-rendered scenes from Cinema 4D, Unreal Engine, and After Effects. With NDI, they could also create plenty of new material on-site, which helped them modify certain elements and parameters that were impossible to determine in pre-production.

Notch Designer Gustavo Rangel described onlookers as filled with awe and emotion upon seeing the culminating experience, which combined seventeenth-century architecture with twenty-first century visual effects for something out of time and entirely its own.

This is the tool of choice for projects like AURA Invalides and many others at Moment Factory. Notch's quick iteration rate and ability to see your scene in context as you create mean you can always put creativity front and centre.
