Project Description
London Grammar’s The Greatest Love Arena Tour 2024
EVOKE Studios took a “fly-on-the-wall” perspective to a whole new level in creating a visual world for London Grammar’s 2024 tour.
In 2024, EVOKE Studios partnered with pop group London Grammar for a second time, building on their successful 2022 collaboration to create visuals in support of their latest album, The Greatest Love. Production Designer Mark Sunderland, familiar with and impressed by EVOKE’s previous work, knew exactly which new songs to assign to the studio.
The creative team worked without a formal brief, instead relying on their intuitive understanding of the band’s dreamy art-pop sensibilities to craft boundary-pushing proposals. More than anything, they set out to elevate the arena experience of the band’s most extensive tour beyond simple video playback, embedding their content within three-dimensional space and exploring various approaches to the work before settling on something.
They found Notch particularly convenient for precisely this experimental way of working. As Content Designer Urs Nyffenegger explained, “With Notch, you have this flexibility in thinking about what might change later in rehearsal, and you can decide then and there how to programme it without issue. I think that’s a major plus of the software.”
The team incorporated drone footage to complement the album’s central theme: a fly’s point of view. After taking plenty of pre-recorded footage of the band in a labyrinth of backstage corridors and green rooms, they processed it in Notch to create a first-person view as seen from the eyes of a fly. The result was a pleasantly dizzying show that simultaneously expanded fans’ views while bringing them remarkably close to the band members.
“We used Notch for both pre-rendered and real-time content. Because of the way Notch is designed, we could iterate and render quickly, over and over, making changes totally spontaneously without worry.”
