When Lil Uzi Vert’s team approached Andrew Marchbank about a tour, the Notch designer was given total creative freedom to devise looks that matched the rapper’s eclectic style. Rather than feeling overwhelmed, Marchbank used this lack of limitations to his advantage and began experimenting with high-contrast looks that would evolve with Lil Uzi Vert’s own evolving aesthetic throughout the entire performance.
Marchbank decided to mix everything live within Notch, beginning by designing all of the looks as separate layers. Then, by routing all effects into one master layer, he was able to fade the looks in and out smoothly. Each look even had multiple MIDI parameters for additional effects to play with during the performance.
