Garena Vietnam Free Fire League Spring 2022
MXC Creative Studio used Notch to create a vivid, graffiti-inspired show at the Garena Free Fire eSports League in Vietnam.
Over a month and a half, MXC Creative Studio produced performance visuals for the Spring 2022 Free Fire League in Vietnam. After Garena reached out and provided a design tool kit with 2D graphic elements doubling as a mood board and resource for the show, MXC took on the challenge of creating a colourful and cheerful atmosphere within a massive arena. The creative team were tasked with designing graphics for the show’s opening, countdown, song performances, and awards ceremony.
Led by Creative Director Le Thanh Tung (Crazy Monkey) and Art Director Mel Tran, the team concocted an idea crossing cyberpunk and graffiti aesthetics all while incorporating the league season’s chosen mascot, Moco. In the words of Cuong Nguyen, Visual Designer at MXC, “as Garena needed quality results within a limited timeframe, we knew Notch would be the right tool to use to achieve the best show possible because of the software’s unbeatable render times.”
Using Notch to create all LED content, the team only needed to use outside software–in this case, After Effects and Premiere Pro–for slight adjustments. They developed the looks of all scenes, tested hologram effects, and optimised large objects, such as buildings. Because every piece of the puzzle came together so smoothly, they could easily separate scenes into individual files and keep everything streamlined going forward into the final rendering stage.
